Marina is an environmental scientist from Switzerland who spent one and a half years in Bhutan between 2008 and 2011. She worked as an intern for Helvetas, a Swiss NGO, and conducted research on participatory forest management for her Master’s degree in environmental sciences at ETH in Zurich. A lot of her time in the kingdom she spent in villages experiencing local life and culture. She loves mountains, particularly mountain forests, and her favorite activities are hiking, trekking and photography. Currently she is also undergoing training as a yoga teacher. For 5 years she has been working in the Swiss forestry service. In Switzerland she conducts field surveys and continually gains experience in managing Swiss forests. Marina guides tours in German, French and English language and her focus is on forestry, flora and fauna and rural livelihoods. In 2018 Marina founded her own business in Switzerland and develops forestry and yoga tours with Bhutan Homestay: Marina Beck Photography-Forestry-Travel.
