Ulli and Sonam at Bhutan Homestay created the trip of a lifetime in Eastern Bhutan. They developed an itinerary that fitted my interests, and the actual tour far exceeded my expectations.

The landscapes, people, wildlife and culture are fascinating and it would take many years to explore it all in detail. The opportunity to stay in homestays did provide a wonderful insight into local life, much more than hotel stays can. It was a privilege and pleasure to visit people in their own homes, and all the hosts and their families were incredibly warm and welcoming. The hosts provided the most amazing freshly prepared, usually homegrown, food and didn’t mind if I couldn’t eat too much of the chilli cheese! The itinerary, guides and drivers were flexible and we were able to experience an archery competition and an incredible festival, which were completely unexpected and wonderful opportunities. The hiking was tough due to steep gradients and altitude, but all the guides looked after me very well and the views were out of this world.

I feel so lucky and privileged to have visited the lovely people and places of Eastern Bhutan, thanks to the fantastic work of Bhutan Homestay.
