13 days west Bhutan – the ideal tour for families who need a slow pace and flexibility combined with visits to highlights such as the famous Tigernest monastery. This tour offers exciting encounters and activities for children and parents alike.

This cozy journey adapts to the pace of the family. There are many interesting things to see and do on the farms and at the places you will visit. At the same time you will not miss out on the most important sights like the famous Tigernest monastery or Punakha Dzong. Whilst overnights have to be fixed, daytime activities are flexible depending on the situation, – from farm work to river rafting and thangka painting, we always find something interesting to do! Our local tour guides are very well prepared for families and ad-hoc activities.

Our Slow Family Travel concept offers a relaxed way of traveling with children. Cultural highlights, short walks or hiking, and meeting with local families are part of every program. Adjust your travel dates to include a local festival.

Day 1: Arrival at Paro & to Thimphu
Pick up from airport and transfer to Thimphu, rest & meet with local family

Day 2: Thimphu
After breakfast watch how your host makes her own tofu at the homestay and later choose from a variety of activities depending on your interests

Day 3: Thimphu
Explore surroundings and visit the Takin preserve to see the funny National animal!

Day 4: From Thimphu to Punakha
Via Dochu la to Punakha, hike uphill to a monastery or downhill to botanical garden. Mind the leeches in summer time!

Day 5: Punakha
Exploring Punakha farmstay & Punakha Dzong

Day 6: Punakha
Choose from activities at farmstay depending on season (milking cows and making cheese, textile dyeing, rafting, swimming, thangka painting, cooking, etc.)

Day 7: Punakha to Paro
Return to Paro, stroll through Paro town

Day 8: Paro to Haa
Drive to Haa via Chele la, hike to Kila nunnery if you feel up to it, evening at farmstay in Haa

Day 9: Haa
Farm activities and spend some time with local family and in the vicinity

Day 10: Haa
Excursion to a heritage and other sights

Day 11: Haa to Paro
Return to Paro via different route

Day 12: Paro
Hike to famous Tigernest monastery

Day 13: Departure
Transfer to airport
